Eagles-Lincoln Financial Field
After purchasing the Eagles in 1994 Jeffrey Lurie began plans for a new state-of-the-art stadium. "Winning the Super Bowl [was] the ultimate goal”, and Lurie felt that providing the best facilities and environment was a necessary part of achieving such success. Construction of Lincoln Financial Field began on May 7, 2001 and less than 28 months later the facility hosted its first event a soccer match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona. The Field’s "Inaugural Game" took place on Monday September 8th, 2003 between the Eagles and the Buccaneers, a rematch of the 2002 NFC Championship Game.
